Alan Frank will be speaking about: History of how the Niles Canyon Railroad and Livermore Emerged

Alan Frank is a retired physicist from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory living in Livermore and a long time Rotarian in the Livermore Club.  He was the curator and historian for the Niles Canyon Railroad, managed the move and restoration of the Sunol Depot.  He was responsible for the historical information resulting in listing on the National Register of Historic Places.  Subsequently he was asked by the City of Livermore to be the historic consultant for the move & refurbishment of the Livermore Depot. He has since published two books, “Depot – A history of the railroad in Livermore” and “Parallel Paths – A Railroad History of Livermore.”  Copies of both books are available from lulu.com, proceeds help support the Livermore Heritage Guild.
