Niles Rotary Club COVID-19 Safety Procedures

August 30, 2021 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

While participating in events held or sponsored by Nile Rotary (the “Club”), consistent with CDC guidelines, participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, “social distancing” and wear face coverings to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread from person-to person contact and through air droplets, the Club has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. However, the Club cannot guarantee that its participants, volunteers, partners, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19. By attending a Club event, you certify that you do not fall into any of the following categories:

  1. Individuals who currently or within the past fourteen (14) days have experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include:
COVID-19 Symptoms, per ACPHD, effective August 5, 2021
  • New loss of taste of smell
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

  • Fever (100° of higher)
  • Cough
  • Severe Headache
  • Sore Throat

2. Individuals who have traveled at any point in the past fourteen (14) days either internationally or to a community in the U.S. that has experienced or is experiencing sustained community spread of COVID-19; or

3. Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case
of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as noncontagious
by state or local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.

DUTY TO SELF-MONITOR:
Participants at live Club events/activities agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of
COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and, contact the
club’s Covid Response Chair, Margo Hood at [email protected] or 510-684-9640 if he/she
experiences symptoms of COVID-19 within 14 days after participating in a live Club
event/activity.

STEPS THE CLUB WILL TAKE
Once notified of any exposure or positive test, the Covid Response Chair will work with the
reporting person to identify any persons who may have been in contact or exposed to that
individual while at a Niles event. Those individuals will be contacted privately and made aware of the situation with a recommendation for testing. The club as a whole will be notified that an event has occurred and that all individuals who were directly involved were notified. Should anyone feel concerned or think they may have been compromised, they will be advised to contact the club’s Covid Response Chair, Margo Hood at [email protected] or 510-684-9640. Club leadership will respect medical and privacy rights of all participants.

MEDICAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT I acknowledge the health risks associated with the Activity,
including but not limited to transient dizziness, lightheaded, fainting, nausea, muscle cramping, musculoskeletal injury, joint pains, sprains and strains, heart attack, stroke, or sudden death. I agree that if I experience any of these or any other symptoms during the Activity, I will discontinue my participation immediately and seek appropriate medical attention. For more information on safety, masking, and travel please follow the links below:

Niles Rotary Community Service

August 4, 2021 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

date:July 1, 2021 Building blocks:  For 2021-2022 we are again planning to do a minimum of one Community Service project per month.    While we plan to continue existing Niles Club Community Service projects such as Pizza with Santa and Feed the Hungry, we are also planning to add a few larger projects.  To maximize our impact and leverage resources (and budgets) we plan to do several projects in coordination with local nonprofits. The Environment:  In line with Rotary’s newest Area of Focus and our own Niles Rotary Environmental Committee, we are planning a number of joint projects throughout the year.  One such project is the expansion of LEAF’s Urban Garden to almost a full acre.   This expansion will help LEAF (Local Ecology and Agriculture Fremont) provide even more than the 5,000 pounds of fresh vegetables they currently provide Tri City Volunteers as they serve food to those in need. Area-wide impact:  In addition to networking with local nonprofits such as LEAF, we are also looking to do several large area-wide Rotary service projects.  A free (Annual?) Fourth of July concert is already being discussed for 2022.  The concert would be produced (and funded) by Fremont Symphony, with area Rotary clubs led by Niles assisting with logistics and crowd control. Think BIG:  Another project under consideration is the new special events center and community pavilion at the California Nursery Historical Park. The new (Rotary?) Center will be used for events, classes, and indoor/outdoor activities and provides Niles Rotary with a potential signature project with area wide impact. CS needs you!  If you are interested in serving on our Community Service committee, or if you have an idea for a community service project you’d like to see us support, please contact Paul Iannaccone, 2021-2022 Club Community Service chair.  I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

REACT – The Rotary Environmental ACtion Team

August 1, 2021 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

In June of 2020 Rotary International’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to make Supporting the Environment the Seventh Area of Focus of Rotary.

In March of 2021 our club, at the direction of then President, Dirk Lorenz formed its own Environmental Action Committee. Our first order of business was to come up with a name for ourselves. The REACT Committee was what we voted to adopt and we had seven members join on day one.

As your Niles Rotary Vocational Service Chair, I want to bring President Audrey’s vision of how the Rotary Vocational Service program will enhance our current membership and how this program can act as a tool to evoke conversation amongst members and bring more business engagement to our club!
